Carnelian is a so-called power stone and makes a lovely jewellery gift for luck on certain occasions requiring extra strength and endurance. Ancient Egyptian tombs are full of Carnelian jewelry, as the Egyptians believed the gemstone had great power in the afterlife. According to these beliefs, Carnelian amulets could help ensure the soul’s passage into the next world.

The Carnelian gemstone is said to bring passion to the wearer and was believed by the Romans to shore up confidence and strength. It therefore makes a perfect gift to wish a friend or loved-one good luck in a competition, a match / game or on some special day or occasion that is going to require extra strength and fortitude. It is associated with the Zodiac sign of Virgo and August/September.

Christian travel earrings - Camino inspired gift
Product Details

A unique gift for a fan of El Camino and other Christian travellers

These unique and delightful shell charm earrings feature a Camino scallop shell charm which is a representative symbol of the Way of St James (El Camino de Santiago) and the "Field of Stars" (Compostela) in northern Spain.

More information about El Camino:

Some 200,000 people travel the Camino each year from all over the world: Some people walk, others travel by bike. Many travellers choose to do the Camino for personal, rather than any spiritual or religious reasons - taking time out from their busy/modern lives and perhaps finding inspiration along the way, whilst reflecting on their life in a supportive environment. Many carry with them a Scallop Shell like the ones in these earrings. Everyone experiences the journey in a different way.

Detail: These scallop shell earrings measure approx 45mms total length from the top of the hook to the bottom of the charm (Shell charm is 12mm long x 13mm wide, made of Zamak.) They consist of sterling-silver ear wires with silver-coated round-shaped beads plus wood-ash-coloured Greek ceramic beads, finished off with a scallop shell charm at the base.

The beads are from the island of Mykonos which has a deep Christian association: Indeed, for many years, the islanders were required to build a church on their land before they were allowed to build a house, leading to an abundance of churches (the most famous being the Church of Our Lady, one of the most renowned architectural structures in Greece).
