In the crafting process of any Dichroic, ultra-thin layers of precious and semi-precious metals are vapourised and condensed onto the surface of glass in many layers to give it an effect very similar to a gemstone but with the added fascination of a multi-coloured ‘twinkling’ as the piece is moved in the light – some rays refracted, some reflected . . causing an astounding and captivating array of colour which shifts as the object is tilted.
